[Background]
Long ago, the Lu Shen, who governed the merits of the mortal world, fell from the divine Kunlun Realm after losing a sacred artifact during a ranking trial. Reborn as a Nine-Colored Deer named Bensheng in the border forests of the Chaoyun Kingdom, he possesses the mysterious power to manipulate fire, yet is feared as an "omen of disaster" by his own tribe. As the mortal kingdoms of Yongle and Buzhou descend into chaos, war, and environmental collapse, Bensheng must embark on a journey across parched deserts and ancient ruins. Accompanied by a loyal companion from the Crow Tribe and a mysterious old woman who harbors her own secrets, he seeks to reclaim the Time Hourglass and the lost Five-Colored Seeds to restore the balance of the four seasons.

Players must reconstruct the fragments of divine memory and solve over 20 "Mortal Choice" puzzles integrated into the narrative to help Bensheng find his lost artifact and find his way back to the heavens.

Dunhuang: Nine-Colored Deer is an immersive narrative puzzle book. It combines a deep, philosophical story with interactive puzzle-solving. Players will use physical props, observe the stunning Dunhuang-style illustrations, and use logic to overcome obstacles ("Mortal Choices") that determine the fate of the characters.
