Engage in a three-round battle, discern your opponent's karma through two decks of hand and field cards. The key to victory lies in recognizing your own lingering karma! This is a new deck-building Old Maid-style game where players read each other's karma and face their own.

How to Play

What is Gogasha?

Gogasha is a 2-player Old Maid-like game. Players compete in a 3-round match, drawing cards from each other's hands and discarding pairs. The player with the lowest total number of remaining cards, or karma points, wins. Each round utilizes one of three pre-constructed decks, and two areas – the hand and the field – add depth to the game. Will you strive to let go of worldly karma or gamble on the next life? Cast away your desires and head towards Nirvana with diligence. Enjoy this intense mental battle that can be played in just 15 minutes!

Mechanics and Gimmicks

Deck Construction with Two Layers of Strategy and Consequences

In Gogasha, players construct three decks for three rounds before the game begins. Each player creates a hand of 13 cards and a field of 12 cards by combining four types of karma cards and Buddha cards. The decks are hidden from opponents, who can't know the composition of hands and fields until the game unfolds.

Three decks with four sets of 13 cards in hand! Keep one extra card face down and out of the game!

The field cards are three decks of four sets of 12 cards!

Players can discard pairs of cards from their hand and their opponent's field, but cannot discard cards that originated from their own hand. This asymmetry means the outcome of each round remains uncertain until it's played out.

Powerful Buddha Cards Determine the Outcome, but the Buddha doesn't give with both hand.

Very powerful card with -1 point when calculating score, each player has 1 card.

Buddha cards are worth -1 karma point during scoring, providing a significant advantage. However, if both players have a Buddha card as their last card, the round ends immediately, and the player who matched the two Buddha cards must give their opponent -2 points. This makes Buddha cards both powerful and risky.

How and when to use Buddha cards is a crucial choice that can determine victory or defeat in the game. The decision is yours to make.
